UK Information Technology Sector

There are over 1.2 million people employed in the UK Information technology industry and is predicted that by 2014 this figure will grow to over 2 million. The sector can be divided into two parts - Those working in the IT industry and IT professionals working in other areas. The average UK IT salary is £34,500. Twenty five percent of all UK IT recruitment companies state they have difficulties finding candidates in the UK with the desired skill set. In 2005 30,000 IT work permits were awarded to overseas professionals with London and the South East accounting for over Forty percent of IT employment.
